REHIS Elementary Food & Health
FFTG Ltd are now offering this course at the discount cost of £50pp. This course has been devised in conjunction with NHS Health Scotland, the Scottish Executive, Food Standards Agency Scotland, the Scottish Community Diet Project and the Scottish Health Choices Award Scheme. Those attending will learn the fundamentals about food and health.
This includes examining the links between food and health in context of the Scottish diet, studying some of the science behind the nutritional content of foods, including a look at energy, sugar, salt, protein, fibre, vitamin and mineral content and how these impact upon the human body. The course also provides information about how poor diet is linked to cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other conditions.
Waste Not Want Not!
FFTG is committed to the "Waste Not Want Not" campaign and is participating in the "FoodMiles Plus" pilot for community groups. We will promote food husbandry to all our clients through positive learning on how to use up leftovers; easy-to-follow recipes; how to reduce shopping costs; and the value of local food and seasonal purchasing.
Reducing food waste is a majorissue and has huge environmental implications. Scottish households throw away 587,000 tonnes of food every year so making a commitment to reduce waste willnot only help the environment but will make an annual saving of around £610 per annum for households with children.
So it really does makes sense to join the programmes and learn how to save money and reduce food waste at the same time.
